The neoclassical colonnades and portico of this hotel front what was originally a Georgian mansion. Lamphey Court’s well-proportioned, richly decorated public rooms retain the sense of harmony which characterised that period. Also in character are the attractively appointed bedrooms, while the studios in the former coach house are especially generously sized (some even have two bedrooms). The large conservatory brings yet more space and light to this inviting hotel. Guests can dine here or in the more formal, candlelit Georgian restaurant.

For all its architectural heritage, Lamphey Court still lays claim to being a decidedly modern hotel. One of its major attractions is Lifestyles, an outstanding leisure centre with large indoor heated swimming pool, whirlpool spa, sauna, gymnasium, aerobics hall, aromatherapy, massage and beauty treatments. The hotel enjoys a sheltered, sunny position – spacious grounds, with extensive patio areas, lead down to two floodlit tennis courts. What’s on offer at Lamphey Court – dignified yet unstuffy surroundings coupled with superb leisure facilities – appeals to a wide audience. The location also plays its part. The hotel is on the doorstep of the best of Pembrokeshire. The National Park’s spectacular coastline, the popular resort of Tenby, a host of attractions and historic Pembroke are all just a short drive away – and right next door there’s a medieval bishop’s palace. Your hosts at Lamphey Court are the Lain family and René Koomen.
