Set in 11 acres of tranquil landscaped gardens and woodland close to Anglesey’s east coast, Tre-Ysgawen Hall is the ideal destination for that relaxing, reviving break. It’s a place with at least two strings to its bow. First, there’s the hotel itself, set in a grand house dating from 1882 with the full complement of Victorian flourishes. Its 29 bedrooms (two of which are four-poster suites) are shared between the main house and Courtyard wing. The former are individually designed in traditional period style, while the latter have a more contemporary feel.

Tre-Ysgawen’s second main asset is its superb spa, sympathetically converted from the original stable block and clock tower, which still presides over the stylish entranceway. Spa facilities include a 52ft level-deck swimming pool, steam room, sauna, whirlpool, spa bath, air-conditioned gymnasium and beauty/therapy suite with six treatment rooms. The adjoining Clock Tower Café Wine Bar offers an informal alternative to the hotel restaurant. Tre-Ysgawen’s central location allows guests to make the most of all that Anglesey has to offer. Walkers, nature lovers, golfers and watersports enthusiasts have the island on their doorstep (ask about Tre-Ysgawen’s two-night golfing package and Golf Pass). There’s history, heritage and culture too – Beaumaris Castle (a World Heritage Site), Penmon Priory and the Oriel Ynys Môn Gallery and Heritage Centre are near-neighbours. Your hosts at Tre-Ysgawen are Neil and Emma Rowlands.
