Welsh Rarebits hotels are generally recognised as being amongst the best places to eat in Wales. Tyddyn Llan takes this one stage further by placing special emphasis on its food. In its exquisite restaurant you’ll enjoy cuisine of the highest order, served in an assured, impeccable style. These culinary qualities are a direct reflection of the skills of Tyddyn Llan’s owners, Bryan and Susan Webb. Prior to their move to Wales, Bryan and Susan ran Hilaire in London’s South Kensington, a restaurant highly acclaimed by all the major food guides. Bryan is now running out of spare space on his mantlepiece at Tyddyn Llan for all the awards and accolades he has won here too, including ‘Restaurant of the Year’. His cooking is all about subtle flavours and an uncompromising attitude to sourcing the finest, freshest ingredients (much of it from local suppliers), while Susan takes exceptional care of her guests. They make a winning team! And their choice of wines is refreshingly individual.

Although the focus is on the food, there’s nothing remotely second rate about the accommodation. Tyddyn Llan is an elegantly appointed Georgian house set in the peaceful Vale of Ederynion at the eastern gateway to the Snowdonia National Park. It’s one of those truly relaxing places where you can sink into soft sofas after a day spent exploring the beautiful surroundings. The bedrooms are individually designed in rich, warm colours with period furnishings and quality bathrooms. And on the doorstep there’s everything from fishing to walking, shooting to golf, horse riding to watersports. Not that you’ll need to build up an appetite for Bryan’s cooking.
