More Information

Guests familiar with Hotel Portmeirion will know that style, individuality and flair are fundamental to its unique character. Those same qualities - applied with a bold, modern twist - have been lavished on Castell Deudraeth, an adventurous addition to Portmeirion’s choice of accommodation.

If you have visited Portmeirion you will have noticed an imposing castellated mansion standing at the approach to the village. It was always the wish of Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, Portmeirion’s creator, that the mansion and its formal gardens become part of his enchanting village, a wish realised when Castell Deudraeth opened its doors to guests.

From the outside, Castell Deudraeth retains its original character as an impressive Grade II listed 19th-century house. But within, the conventional rule book has been thrown away. In place of the expected country house interior, Castell Deudraeth embraces contemporary trends with its cool, clean, uncluttered lines, neutral colours and natural materials. Local slate and oak are used to achieve that most subtle of balances ñ style allied with simplicity. With its ‘less is more’ philosophy it could be a fashionable boutique hotel in central London or New York.

The spacious suites are exquisitely furnished with king- or queen-sized beds, whirlpool baths, real flame gas fires, underfloor heating and wide-screen TVs with integral DVDs and CDs. Guests have the choice of dining in Castell Deudraeth’s informal brasserie-style restaurant or at Hotel Portmeirion a short walk away.

Guests, of course, have full access to the village and its beautiful private peninsula, lush gardens, woodlands, hidden coves and stretches of coast. Your host is Laura Holden. Hotel closed January and February.
