More Information

Milebrook House enjoys the ultimate borderland location. Guests can stand in Milebrook’s attractive gardens and look across to England, which begins just over the River Teme. Rodney and Beryl Marsden and family have built up a faithful following for their hotel, based on its informal atmosphere, high standards of comfort, excellent food and unrivalled location.

The house, dating from the 18th century, stands in delightful grounds with formal and herbaceous gardens and croquet lawn leading down to riverside walks beside the Teme. There’s also a kitchen garden which provides virtually all the vegetables for the chef’s skilful cooking - the imaginative cuisine, complemented by an extensive wine list, earns the restaurant recognition in leading food guides.

Countryside and wildlife enthusiast Rodney will be happy to advise on birdwatching, walking and exploring the surrounding hills of peaceful border country. Milebrook is ideally located for walkers on the long-distance Offa’s Dyke Path (the Offa’s Dyke Centre is located in Knighton, or Tref-y-Clawdd, the ‘Town on the Dyke’). The hotel is also close to two historic towns - Ludlow with its many ancient buildings and Presteigne, home of the fascinating Judges’ Lodging heritage attraction - as well as Herefordshire’s black-and-white villages.

Fishing enthusiasts stay even closer to home - Milebrook has a one-mile stretch of fly fishing for brown trout on the Teme. At the end of the day, guests can relax in comfy surroundings and enjoy the personal attention that only a small hotel can provide. Knighton is on the scenic Shrewsbury to Swansea Heart of Wales railway. Travel by train and the hotel will arrange to pick you up.
